The WHQL release includes a number of feature additions with performance improvements. Here are some of the major additions, performance improvements and fixes:
- Performance improvements for older cards
- Frame Rate Target Control for older cards
- Virtual Super Resolution has been extended to HD 7000 series and AMD APUs
- Crossfire FreeSync is now supported
- Preliminary "technical preview" Windows 10 support. (WDDM 2.0)

Frame Rate Target Control is a functionality which allows capping frame rates between 55fps and 95fps. This functionality is now available for most GCN cards. Virtual Super Resolution, or VSR, is now supported by all Bonaire, Pitcairn and Tahiti GPUs. This simply means that VSR is now supported by R7 260 series, HD 7790, HD 7800 series and HD 7900 series, and all the latest APUs, with A7400K and above, do support VSR now.
Crossfire FreeSync, which was held back by AMD due to alot of issues, is finally enabled now. AMD have noted it that it is working for DX10 and above.
The latest released driver package, released for Windows 10, also includes support for WDDM 2.0 and DirectX 12. For now AMD is calling this a "technical preview" driver. The official driver support will come on July 29th when Windows 10 releases
The driver is for all GCN video cards. But keep in mind that the driver is technical preview. Official driver will be released as soon as the Windows 10 releases.
