First things first, OnePlus had officially announced the launch of OnePlus 2 way back. The tweet, posted by the company, clearly indicated that OnePlus 2 will be unveiled on July 27th at 7PM PT - that too in virtual reality. This is going to be the first ever product launch in VR. You can have a look at the tweet posted by the company:

OnePlus was also excited about the 'change' in product launch since the announcement. Here is what they think about this change: In our industry, product launches tend to be the same. An auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience. For the OnePlus 2 launch, we didn’t want that barrier between us and you; we want to invite you into our world, because you’re a major part of it. That is why we will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 to the world completely in VR. Starting July 27 at 7:00pm PT, everyone around the world can stream our launch. After the announcement, OnePlus kept telling us about the specifications and features of their "2016 flagship killer". At first, they told us about the CPU which will power their flagship. Well, CPU is the most important thing in a smartphone and a flagship must be powered by a good CPU. The company chose wisely and they affirmed that the OnePlus 2 will powered by Snapdragon 810 v2.1. You maybe wondering what "v2.1" means. Well, we already know that Snapdragon 810 has heat issues, so OnePlus chose to use v2.1 which is, of course, 810 itself but it doesn't heat up - as claimed by the company itself:
Although there have been reports that the 810 runs warmer than its predecessors, we assure you that we have taken all the necessary precautions and beyond to prevent this from occurring in the 2. We worked very closely with Qualcomm’s engineers to integrate an improved version of the chipset (v2.1) in the OnePlus 2, and fine-tuned both hardware and software. The 2 will be “cooler than ever”.After the most important part - the CPU, the company confirmed that OnePlus 2 will feature a USB Type-C port. The port is for charging and data transfer purpose. It will be "more efficient". Here is what the company said:
The OnePlus 2 will be the first global flagship smartphone sporting this breakthrough technology. Its cable channels the same beautiful design of the OnePlus One’s that our users love, but this time with the added convenience and comfort of a reversible plug. Great products make life easier, and reducing a bit of worry everyday when our users plug in their devices is a significant improvement in user experience that we’re proud of.Security is something everyone wants. OnePlus don't want their customers and fans to worry about the security. That's why they added a fingerprint sensor in their upcoming flagship too. OnePlus 2 will also feature a fingerprint sensor. That's not all, the fingerprint sensor will be faster than Touch ID - as claimed by the company itself.
After the security, there was an increased hype about the "2016 flagship killer". The company left a statement that it would tell us more about OnePlus 2 on July 7. On the date, OnePlus announced that OnePlus 2 will have 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. 4GB of RAM is the most a smartphone can get nowadays. And LPDDR4 type is icing on the cake.
After some time, OnePlus team took part in AMAA on reddit in which they answered some of the questions posted by the fans. Most notably, they told about the battery. In response to a question, posted by a fan, regarding the battery, the team clearly stated that OnePlus 2 will be powered by a 3,300mAh battery.
Above mentioned specs and features were, officially, announced or confirmed by OnePlus itself. The company didn't tell us about an important part of a smartphone - the camera. But, after some time, the specs and image samples of the camera were revealed by a prolific Youtuber - MKBHD. The details, revealed by MKBHD were great. It was revealed that OnePlus 2 will feature a camera of 13MP and maximum f/2.0 aperture. It was also told that a laser autofocus technology is used in the phone - like the one used in LG G3.
That's all we have to tell you. The specifications and features of the OnePlus 2 are quite impressive. We will tell you more once the device is launched. Tighten your seatbelts since the launch is around the corner!
